New Guidance for policy makers on including the voice of lived experience in policy making
New guidance produced by the Greater Manchester Equality Alliance (GM=EqAl) aims to support public sector colleagues to include the voice of lived experience in policy making.
Produced as part of the Equalities workstream of the VCSE Accord, this guidance brings together key principles for including the voice of lived experience in policy making with practical guidance around remuneration and examples of this in practice.
Greater Manchester has ambitions as a city-region to do things differently and the Greater Manchester Strategy states that GM will ‘involve people in the decisions we make and actions we take’. This guidance aims to support this by ensuring direct and first-hand experiences are leading the development of policy, and that those with lived experience truly have a voice in decision-making.
By doing so, we can better challenge inequality by ensuring services and policies are designed to better meet the needs of individuals and communities in Greater Manchester.
